The BEST Internship Pilot is a program offered by the NIH to doctoral students seeking internships in six career areas- law, business, communication, teaching, community engagement, and government. Broadening Experiences in Scientific Training (BEST) was designed for doctoral students interested in exploring careers beyond academia. Universities establish partnerships with faculty, university departments, alumni and employers to develop transformative experiences that broaden training and career opportunities for doctoral trainees.
Arbor Assays had the opportunity to work with a Wayne State Graduate Student over the course of the summer, sharing experiences of the ‘behind the scenes’ workings of our small yet efficiently productive company, in addition to an R&D project focused on her specific area of study. It was a favorable experience for all parties and we look forward to helping students learn about the intersection of biomedical science and business first-hand in the future.
