Our DetectX® Corticosterone ELISA Kit has been used on samples from Aardvarks to Whales including serum, plasma, urine, saliva, hair, bone, tissue – choose your species and sample here.

It is the only kit to be able to measure CORT in less than 1 µL of mouse tail bleed serum in 90 minutes with no extractions using stable, liquid reagents. Follow the researchers who have published over 230 papers using our kit.

Corticosterone (C21H30O – Kendall’s Compound ‘B’) is a glucocorticoid secreted by the cortex of the adrenal gland. Produced in response to stimulation of the adrenal cortex by ACTH as the precursor of aldosterone, corticosterone is a major indicator of stress and is the prevalent non-human mammal stress steroid. Studies involving corticosterone and levels of stress include impairment of long term memory retrieval, chronic corticosterone elevation due to dietary restrictions and response. In addition to stress levels, corticosterone is believed to play a decisive role in sleep-wake patterns.
